While working on the climate change affected pines, I was told about this incredibly personal and heartbreaking story. The huge pine had been leaning toward las the house for years, yet the owner refused to have it cut. Instead, he was tying it to the fence with chains, stacking concrete blocks on the roots - anything to keep it standing, but the tree was too heavy anyway, the house and it’s inhabitants were in danger. The tree had to be cut down.

The owner let me take photos before and after the cutting and he told me a bit of the story of the pine. Years ago, one of the family members living in the house got very ill and found comfort by sitting under the pine, embracing it asking for its energy to heal. The illness won, but the owner vowed to do everything to never let the tree be cut down. Telling me about all that was still very emotional for him and it was one of the saddest and most beautiful stories I had ever heard.
